Abstract
Noncommunicable diseases account for 70% of total deaths in Bangladesh. Diabetes is a chronic lifelong disease. It is the 4th most common cause of death among noncommunicable diseases in Bangladesh. If undetected or uncontrolled, it can lead to life-threatening acute emergencies and long-term chronic complications leading to blindness, end-stage kidney disease, neurological complications, and cardiovascular disease. Research has proved that all these complications are largely preventable by early detection and good control of diabetes.
